Abused & Neglected is a band that originated from the transformation of the Lucas Ronald Style project. It was originally the solo work of Lucas (founder of Notion Deep). Under the project name L.R.S., the band recorded the demo "For my selectors" in August 2015.
In 2016, the original drummer was replaced by Maty Buriánek. The group came together and laid the foundation for a new full-fledged band. They performed together, still under the name Lucas Ronald Style Project, on their spring Supporting Metal Tour 2017, concluding with a performance alongside the legendary Blaze Bayley at Melodka in Brno on April 29, 2017.
After this concert, the band officially introduced themselves as Abused & Neglected and debuted with the recording "Undestructible" in May 2017. However, Abused & Neglected wasted no time and returned to the studio at the end of the same year.
This time they chose The Barn studio for recording, which is owned by Dan Friml (frontman of Mean Messiah), and under his guidance, on January 14, 2018, the band released their next album, "Enlivened". On this occasion, Abused & Neglected embarked on their tour, and although the majority of performances were planned in the Czech Republic, the band also visited neighboring countries such as Austria, Slovakia, Poland, and Hungary.
At the end of 2018, guitarist Jirka Látal, who was responsible for all the music composition, left the band. Soon after, drummer Maty Buriánek also left after accepting an offer from the band Hanibal Lecter. However, both former members remained friends with the members of Abused & Neglected and stayed in close contact. The vacant guitarist position was filled by Tomáš Kopeček (formerly of Blackened Snake), who continued the work of Jirka Látal.
Throughout the year 2019, the band searched for a drummer and found Radim Bittner at the end of the year. When the lineup was complete, they quickly prepared for their new album in the well-established The Barn studio, once again under the guidance of Dan Friml (Mean Messiah). On June 28, 2020, Abused & Neglected recorded their third album, "Loading Stranger Things", in which Jirka Látal also contributed as a consultant and co-author of most of the songs. It is the band's first conceptual album in which Lucas lyrically addresses the issues of human domestication, detachment from the natural environment, the influence of modern technologies on mental and physical health, a return to a more traditional way of life, and ultimately finding balance.
Unfortunately, the planned tour had to be postponed due to anti-pandemic measures. However, the band did not lose hope and wanted to use the gained time to refine the songs that were to be included in a setlist lasting at least an hour and a half. However, tension within the band escalated. Irregular rehearsals and resulting lack of cohesion bothered everyone. In the spring of 2021, the band faced the difficult decision of parting ways with two members - Tomáš Kopeček and Radim Bittner.
After some time searching, guitarist Lukáš Kaleta joined the ranks of Abused & Neglected. The band regained its strength, and after several meetings, drummer Maty Buriánek returned. Reinforced like this, Abused & Neglected hit the road in 2022, playing clubs and other events. At the end of that year, the band entered the Stopa recording studio to record, under the guidance of Jan Klobus, and in 2023 released their fourth album To Fall Asleep Is Like To Die, which differs in sound from their previous records. Following this pessimistic album, the band went on tour under the name Don’t Sleep! Don’t Die, which lasted until summer 2024. This tour no longer included Jakub Szymsza, who had left the band, though he remains in contact with its members. He was replaced by Lukáš Oramus, who fit into the band seamlessly. During the tour, guitarist Lukáš Kaleta was replaced by the youngest current member, Šimon Dubrava.
In 2025, the band celebrates ten years since the foundation of Abused & Neglected. They marked this anniversary by releasing three music videos for songs from their established repertoire. This is followed by a spring and autumn club tour, which symbolically divides their past work from what’s to come. With a new lineup, the band is currently working on their next album titled Latex Unisex. Once again, they are collaborating with former member Jirka Látal. The album is set to release in 2026 and will serve as a gateway into the newly begun decade of Abused & Neglected.
